Misagh Azimi (he/him)
I am an Iranian-German composer and multidisciplinary researcher whose work spans composition/production and the exploration of creative digital technologies. I compose primarily for stage and visual media, and as a performing musician I produce and release music through my own online label, Warm Mud Records.
My scholarly interests and research areas include:
- • Artificial intelligence for creative applications
- • New technologies for music creation and performance
- • Critical engagement with the role of technology in musical practice: examining questions of labor, authorship, and technofeudalism.
Since 2019, I have lectured and tutored in music and media at universities in Germany and New Zealand and am currently completing my PhD in artificial intelligence at Victoria University of Wellington.
I am an alum of Folkwang University of the Arts (Germany), ICOM Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Tehran Conservatory (Iran), with certificates in Machine Learning from Stanford Online and Front‑End Development from Meta.
